Today, I am writing about a subject that I feel is super important not just for photographers. You may think its selfish and a waste of time especially if you are already busy but I beg you to revisit that thought.
2015 has been so amazing for my business! I was blessed with photographing some dream weddings and all of them were destination weddings. One was in Alabama! I was humbled and kind of in awe of what came of this past year. God truly surprised me and those who are reading this who are my clients, THANK YOU! Seriously, I am not just saying this. I truly have some of the most amazing clients! Family, newborn and senior sessions were the highest booked yet. I don’t say this as to brag. I say this because I am extremely blessed that I was so busy this past year and Thank You!
One thing that I learned was that I need to schedule things a little differently this coming year. I mean it was hard to take time to clean the house and make dinners etc. Yes, I did clean and make dinners but the time I had for myself and my family were very minimal. Please, hear my heart. I am not complaining and I so can not wait for next year to be busy again!! I am taking this as a learning lesson for this coming year. Schedule in time for your family and yourself. I mean literally take the calendar and put it down. Wait schedule time for yourself? YES! You can’t operate in your full creativity without some time for you. One way that I did this was doing a photo shoot with no restrictions. I just shot it the way I saw it and my “model”, Katie Wahl did a fantastic job being open to my ideas. She isn’t a model. Can you believe it? Never had professional pics done. What??
Anyway, I did this shoot because I knew I needed to do something for me. Something that I could be free to express some tiny bit of creativity that had been hiding in me for awhile. Something that I thought at first, will I be able to pull this off? Am I creative enough for this? I have other ideas with this location but I was pleased with how the shoot went. It was even 65 degrees!! It’s December! That doesn’t happen very often in PA.
Take a look at the shoot. There is one photo that was taken with a lower quality camera. Do you know which one it is? If you want to guess leave a comment or answer on FB. I point this out only to say that you beginner photographers, get out and shoot! You don’t have to wait until you have THE camera that everyone is buzzing about. If you have a creative idea go for it! It’s the ideas of what you see that can make the photo not the camera!
Katie, a huge thank you for rockin’ the shoot!
